Someone from another world coming down and you becoming friends with them and this person is, like, 800 years old and he's filling you with all kinds of wisdom and he can teach you to fly. That whole fantasy thing which I think is great. I mean, who don't wanna fly?"

"When you just look out over the stage, as far as the naked eye could see, you see people. And it's a wonderful feeling, but it came with a lot of pain, a lot of pain."
Speaking to Ebony magazine in 2008

"The truth is, umm, no. Not the way James Brown did, or Jackie Wilson did, where they just ran it out, they killed themselves. In my opinion, I wish (Brown) would have slowed down and been more relaxed and enjoyed his hard work."
When asked by Ebony about whether he would carry on performing into old age.

"I wrote a song called Dirty Diana. It was not about Lady Diana. It was about a certain kind of girls that hang around concerts or clubs, you know, they call them groupies."
Speaking to Barbara Walters

Excerpts from the book "MJ in his own words" by Catherine Dinine, 1993

- I wrote 'Will You Be There?' [Dangerous album] at my house, Never Land in California. I didn't think about it hard. I always feel that it's done from above. I feel fortunate for being that instrument through which music flows. I'm just the sourre through which it comes. I can't take credit for it because it's God's work. He's just using me as the messenger. I wake up from dreams, and go "Wow. put this down on paper." The whole thing is strange. You hear the words, everything is right there in front of your face... That's why I hate to take credit for the songs I've written. I feel that somewhere, someplace, it's been done and I'm just a courier bringing it out into the world.
- I really believe that God chooses people to do certain things, the way Michelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci or Mozart or Muhammed Ali or Martin Luther King is chosen,.. I haven't scratched the surface yet of what my real purpose is for being here. I'm committed to my art. I believe that all art has as its ultimate goal that union between the material and the spiritual, the human and the divine.

- That's what I'm here for really. It's like Michelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci. Today we can still see their work and be inspired by it. I'd like to just keep going and inspire people and try new things.

- I feel that this world we live in is really a big, huge, monumental symphonic orchestra. I believe that in its primordial form, all of creation is sound and thai it's not just random

-  When composing the song 'Heal The World' it was my dream to hear it performed the way they [a boys' choir] just performed it... It took everything to keep me from crying.

- I wanted to write a song, the type of song that I would buy if I wanted a rock song. That is how I approached it and I wanted the kids to enjoy it The next thing I can recall is the song being there. I think the gift is there naturally but the songs come through me. On 'Beat It', written & composed by MJ for 'Thriller' album

- Quincy [Jones] made me drive all the way to my house, and he forced me to get the engineer in to do this song... and I made him wait in the other room. I was really embarrassed. I was in there, Singing my heart out. So finally, I was done. He came in, and I played it. And when it was over, he just loved it! He hugged me and said "This is the song we've been looking for". On 'Beat It' which was first unveiled to Quincy

- In a crowd. I'm afraid. On stage, I'm safe, I'd sleep on stage if I could.

- I spend alot of time with my songs. I want to make them perfect, really good. Each time I write a song, I think to myself that this has to be a Top Ten record. I have more trouble with the lyrics than the music, so I write a lot with Jermaine. All you need for a hit record is the right kind of feeling. I wnte about all kinda things. I write about an old man, a tree, what's happening in the world, a deer. I love writing so much I'd eat it, really. I love it (on the Jacksons' 10th anniversary)

- I wrote 'Working day and night' which is autobiographical in a lot of ways. Though I did stretch a point to playing the part like I was married to this person and she's got me moving.

- No matter what you do you are competing against your previous product and everybody expects more.

- Every Sunday, I just have vegetable juice and I have to dance to recharge my emotional equilibrium. The fasting is good for me. It
cleanses the system.

- My biggest fear is being misquoted. One word can be cut into a statement and change the complete meaning and colouring of what
was meant

- I happen to be colour blind. I don't hire colour. I hire competence

Michael Jackson Speech, 2002 Exeter Football Club

"Sadly, sadly, we live in a state of fear.
Every day we hear of war.
On the news.
On the radio.
And television.
In newspapers.
Always of war.
We hear of nations hurting each other.
Of neighbors hurting each other.
Of families hurting each other.
And of children killing each other.
We must learn to live and love each other.
Before it's too late.
WE HAVE TO STOP!
We have to stop the prejudice.
We have to stop the hating.
We have to stop living in fear of our own neighbors.
I would like all of you now to take the hand of the person to the left and to the right of you.

(roll down to watch the video of MJ's Speech)

GO ahead, right now.  I mean it.  Right now.
Don't be shy...DO IT.  Right now.  I mean it.  It starts now.
The person to the left and the right of you.
Go ahead, right now. I mean it.  Right now.
Don't be shy...DO IT.
Now, tell the person...
tell the person next to you that you care for them.
Tell them that you care for them.
TELL THEM THAT YOU LOVE THEM.
TELL THEM THAT YOU LOVE THEM.

THIS IS WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.

TOGETHER...

Together, we can make a change in the world.
Together, we can help to stop racism.
Together, we can help to stop prejudice.

We can help the world live without fear.

It is our only hope.
And without hope, we are lost.

To all the children of the world,
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.

Thank you, and GOD BLESS."

Michael Jackson's speech at The 35th Annual Grammy Awards 1993:

" I don't read all the things written about me.  I wasn't aware that the world thought I was so weird and bizarre.  But when you grow up as I did in front of 100 million people since the age of five, you're automatically different.  My childhood was completely taken away from me.  There was no Christmas, no birthdays.  It was not a normal childhood.  No normal pleasures of childhood.  Those were exchanged for hardwork, struggle and pain and eventual material and professional success.  But as an awful price, I cannot recreate that part of my life.  Nor will I change any part of my life.  However, today when I create my music, I feel like an instrument of nature.  I wonder what delight nature must feel when we open our hearts and express our God-given talents.  The sound of approval rose across the universe and the whole world abounds in magic.  Wonder fills our hearts what we have glimpsed for an instance - the playfullness of life.  And that's why I love children and learn so much from being around them.  I realize that many of our problems today from the inner city crimes to large scale wars and terrorism and our overcrowded prisons are a result of the fact that children have had their childhood stolen from them.  The magic, the wonder, the mystery and the innocence of a child's heart are the seeds of creativity that will heal the world.  What we need to learn from children isn't childish.  Being with them connects us to the deeper wisdom of life.  Which is ever present and only asked to be lived.  The noble way to solutions that lie waiting to be recognized within our own hearts.  Today I would like to thank all the children of the world, including the sick and deprived.  I am sensitive to your pain." - Michael Jackson

MoonWalk - A Must Read Autobiography (July 8, 2008)

(Reviewed by by Forever MJ Fan - Rated 5 star, Source Amazon)

For all those people who choose to believe the crap that's written about Michael Jackson, I suggest you all take a look inside yourselves. This book Moonwalk is a a wonderful book giving Michael's point of view of his rise to fame, his family, and his relationships. This book was written in 1988, several years prior to the madness that surrounded him. I'm insulted that the people who are selling this book are actually selling it for 1 cent! That is ultimate disrespect for a person who has given us so much joy and great music for 40 years of his life. He deserves to be seen as a human being, not the freak that the media and the American public make him out to be! This other book that the so called critic is recommending "Be Careful Who You Love" is just another smear campaign. It's bad enough this man's life has been in shambles the past few years. But all the public wants to do is to continue to beat him into the ground until their's nothing left. Michael Jackson is simply a man who has tried all his life to help others. Now he's being crucified because of the lies of some very greedy people. Try reading all the facts before you continue to judge someone.

Proof that Michael Jackson Is Very Intelligent & Loving, April 15, 2003

This was the most wonderful book I have ever read. As soon as I heard about it I had to have it because I have always been a huge Michael Jackson fan, and always will be. However, though I expected it to be good. I did not expect this. The poems and essays are so well thought out and beautifully written. The man has a true gift. Every single work is filled with the joy of life and is a true inspiration. It has even inspired me to start writing poetry, but I am not nearly as good as this. They made me smile, laugh, and cry. Whenever I have a bad day I read either "The Heart Said No" or "Grew Wings Without Me" or "Trust" and they truly lift my spirit. There are also great essays and poems about nature and animals like "When the Elephants March" and "Look Again, Baby Seal." Also, there are poems about the love of God. Furthermore you will discover how Michael really feels about children in poems like "Children of the World," "On Children," "When Babies Smile," and "Wise Little Girl." This man is the last person in the world that I would worry about being with children. After reading this, I trust him not to hurt children more than I do myself! And I adore children! This book is truly beautiful and will show the path of love and righteousness to anyone who reads it. I would recommend this to someone whether or not they have ever bought a Michael Jackson record. If you want to be inspired beyond belief, read this. If you want to know who the REAL Michael Jackson is, don't watch the news, read this.

In A Word: Breathtaking

This is Michael Jackson at his prime. It is a living proof that the man is not only the greatest pop star that ever lived, he's the greatest artist that ever lived.

The book is printed 100% on glossy paper and has tons of pictures. It contains Jackson's observation on life, humanity, god, the world and children. It takes you places only Michael Jackson can.

So, in a word? Breathtaking. Get it right now!!!

MUST HAVE for all fans, June 17, 2007

By M. Giles

Dancing the dream is a glimpse into the soul of Michael Jackson. It's a must have for any fan. It gives you a MUCH MUCH MUCH better idea of who he is than his 'autobiography' Moonwalk (which was little more than a recounting of his career). This book shows you the idealistic, perhaps naive, and sometimes sappy core of Michael.

If you're looking for the world's best poetry or writings, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a glimpse of Michael Jackson's heart, if you want to escape the harsh realities of everyday life and indulge in the idealistic dreams of someone who genuinely looks for the good in the world, then this is the book for you.

Any time I'm feeling down, I can always pick up this book and read a few pages and it always makes me feel better :)

Highly Recomended!!!, January 10, 1999

I always thought about Michael Jackson as a great singer, song/writer and dancer. This book shows that he is a great poet too. It also shows how gentle he is. I love this book! If you think that Michael is just a spoiled, creazy pop star, then this book will change your mind. My favorite poems are "But The Heart Said No" and "Love"

BEAUTIFUL AND TOUCHING SPEECH
AT OXFORD UNIVERSITY IN 2001

MJ could not hold his tears streaming during the speech !

(Heal the Kids, 4 Parts)

Beautiful and important speech by Michael Jackson to Oxford Union (Oxford University, UK) in 2001. Full text included in video. Michael was a kind and gentle person, intelligent and funny, warm and loving. And a true humanitarian. Here he pleads for us all to reconnect with our families, to forgive, to end the violence in schools and heal the hearts of the children, including our own inner child. He talks about his own childhood and the difficulties he faced in the relationship with his father. I wish everyone would listen to this.
