Michael Jackson Planned for 3-D ‘Thriller’ Film
Source: current-movie-reviews.com
The late King of Pop and music icon, Michael Jackson, who died
unexpectedly in June of this year, had reportedly planned on releasing
a 3-D version of the incomparable “Thriller”. However, this time,
Michael had planned on transforming it into a full feature film.
According to Michael’s “This Is It” movie director, Kenny Ortega,
Jackson had planned on turning to the world of movies once he finished
with music.
Ortega gave an emotional interview on Monday about his work with
Jackson, claiming Michael had plans for two big projects after he
finished his worldwide tour. One was a full length film, an expansion
of his 1980s classic mini-film/music video “Thriller,” while the other
would be a musical remake of “Legs Diamond,” a Peter Allen gangster
saga from the 1980s.
Ortega talked in great detail about the devastating loss he felt when
Michael died, and the sadness of the projects that never would come to
fruition. He said he struggled having to go from putting the final
touches on Jackson’s return to the worldwide concert circuit, to
helping in the planning of Michael’s memorial service within a matter
of days. He also noted, that contrary to some rumors that swirled,
Michael “couldn’t wait to get to London” and that “this was not a
retirement plan.” Michael Jackson was just days from his fiftieth
birthday when he died in June of this year.
